We’re glad to welcome Giac LaGraff to the lab as a Master’s student in Engineering. Giac will be mentored by Dr. Heidi Hehnly and Dr. Shikha Nangia.
Giac’s research will investigate whether and how microplastics cross the blood-brain barrier, with a particular focus on the role of cilia in brain endothelial cells. Microplastics are increasingly detected in human tissues, but how they might move across this critical barrier is still poorly understood. Giac’s work aims to help close that gap.
